German Shorthair Pointer Testimonial

11/23/2010

I am sorry this update on our German Shorthair that we adopted in January is so overdue. We decided to name

him Gustav (Gus for short). He has grown up to be the most gorgeous dog. He has done a little hunting training-

but was not ready (our fault) to go out this fall. We did not want to take him until he had his come command down

perfectly. We would be devastaded if he got lost. He is so smart and doing great with his basic obedience. He is

SUPER with our children ages 8 & 14. He puts up with anything. It seems our daughter can not be in the same room

with him and not be touching him- and he enjoys every minute of it. He LOVES to snuggle up to us - and it did not

last long for him to sleep in his kennel before we moved him into our room. He sleeps in our bed every night. We

could not ask for a better, sweeter addition to our family. He adores his brother (our smooth collie Rhett) and has

taken over as alpha dog even though Rhett is 8 yrs old. Rhett is just so happy he is here and he has a friend. I have

tached a couple of pictures for you. Will send more another time when we have some. Gustav celebrated his first

birthday on 9/29 with a cupcake. He made quite a mess with it.

As you can hopefully see- Gustav is well loved and cared for.

We are so grateful to have him as part of our family.

Just wanted to tell you how impressed we are with our Izzy.  After our hunting trip to southeastern Mn.

for pheasants we were totally grateful for this brittany.  She has turned out not only to be an excellent

family dog but, also an excellent hunter.  All the training and love we have put into this dog have been

well worth it.  She has proven that her blood line was one of excellence.

Thank you again Bob for our Izzy and for the great hunting experience.

Rollie and Shelly-

Just wanted to thank you so much for our Taffy. We got her at the game fair in 08. She was a runt

and thus available.  We got Taffy our Brittany mainly because of the lack of shedding as I am allergic to dogs but

own them anyway. So she does not hunt.  She ended up about 25 lbs and absolutely adorable. At first her energy

level was intense but as she has aged and with tons of exercise she has become a smart and instantly obedient dog

willing to go anywhere with us as long as we are there. She has brought so much joy to us and to our German Shepherd

who is older but Taffy brought out the puppy in her again and her energy level has increased greatly and they are an

adorable pair, playing and snoozing together.

Her instincts for hunting are impeccable. We don't hunt but she points and finds birds every chance she gets on our land.

Want you to know that as a family dog your Brittanys are excellent.  We couldn't be happier. Thank you for taking such

good care of her and even letting her bunk with you are few nights when she was a little potato. You made her so loving

and willing to please. and really she is such a happy dog you cannot be in a bad mood around her. She will make you laugh

and snap out of it. She loves life every minute, and then becomes a snuggler when she gets tired. I hope many more people

have the chance to own a spectacular dog from Lais' like we do.

THANK YOU

Joel and Victoria K

from Northern, MN.

Is it ok if I put this on our testimonial page?
Thanks,
Sharon

Reply:

Absolutely!  Actually we got her in 2007, cannot believe it!  She is such a joy.  My husband was mortified to be getting

a “small dog” as her has always had shepherd and he is wrapped around her little paw and we often comment on how

super lucky we were to find you guys, we never dreamed we would get such a gem!

Bob & Sharon,

It was nice to see you at game fair. We just wanted to let you know that "Boo" the gsp we

purchased from you 4/26/09 is an  amazing pointer. Her first hunt last year was incredible.

She held point and honored our weimarnar perfectly. Not only does she hunt she has the best

disposition. She is good natured and full of personality. She is very much a part of our family.

Don't know what we would do without her. Thanks Again for a great dog and you can bet we

will send our friends your way...

Bob and Sharon,
I just wanted to share these pictures with you. We celebrated Beetle's 3rd Birthday on the 8th

with a yummy DQ cake!! The last 3 years have been great and I can't wait for a long life with her.

She has filled my shorthair void completely and am so glad to have her in my life. She still comes

to work with me every day. She learned a lot at hunting school even though she doesn't get out

to hunt. She loves flyball and has been competing now for almost a year. Thank you both for

all you do and for breeding not only good hunting dogs but most importantly great family dogs!!

Hope to see you again this year at the game fair.

Hello , Just wanted to send you a couple photos and tell you how much we love our dog.

My sons Bought this dog from you last spring for my birthday. One of Bell's pups born Feb. 09.
She is by far the best dog we've ever had. Very obedient , a great hunter and all around fantastic dog.
Puppy picture taken the day after she was given to me. and the other pictures are when she just turned a year old.
Hunted her at the Minnesota Horse and Hunt Club and she pointed us 7 birds in 30 minutes.
My two boys and I were absolutely in awe of how well she did. Quartered perfectly and it was nothing but business.
Very obedient , no use for a shock collar. She is just amazing. Her name is Cassie Autumn Bell.
Would recommend to anyone to buy a pup from your Kennel.

Bob & Sharon,

I would be delighted to have you use this on your site.  If you would like to use me as a reference for future clients

feel free to pass along this email address.  The extra things you guys did, like acclimating her to the car, and working

with her name prior to me picking her up made a difference that could not be bought.  Carrie and I have been thinking

of moving to a home with larger acreage next summer, and that will give me room for more Pointers !

Thank You !

Bob,

I wanted to send you an update on Sedona and her progress.  I must say that at just 10 months, and in her first year of

field work she is wonderful.   Using a check cord, and a whistle (no pea) she trained well.  She has a natural quartering

pattern and has taken well to the shot.  She hunts to the gun very well.  20 to 30 yards.  I worked her this summer on the

training grounds here in our State Forest DNR managed land.  In Wisconsin we can be licensed to use live birds to train dogs

to wing.  She took well to the birds and after her first initial meeting in which she pulled back startled she found her calling

and now "points" Pheasants well, and last weekend she locked on to a Quail.  I had used quail that very first time she

spooked, but she still knew it was a bird she needed.  I had not expected much this first year, but I was taken back by her

natural abilities.  It was if all I was doing was "guiding" her through what she already knew.  She still has some work and

growing up to do, but all in all she is a blessing.  Thank You !  I sent some pictures for you to see her again, one was early summer,

the other was last weekend.

Sincerely

Jason S.

I just wanted to drop you guys a line and tell you how incredibly well the Brittany pup we got from you 2 years ago is doing (Baily, Kandi). I knew

nothing about training a bird dog when we got him and so I struggled a bit. I worked with him the first year and nearly messed him up given my

inexperience. I was doing things wrong and trying to teach him in the field. I finally decided to just train him in obedience and let him learn to hunt

on his own. I let him run around in the field during the off months and do whatever he wanted as long as he listened to come, heal etc. WOW how he

has picked it up! He's an absolute champ in the field now!

The genes are shining through and its just an absolute joy to be with him in the field or at home. As soon as I can get my wife talked into another dog I

will be back for another pup :)

Thank you of offering such high quality dogs. An inexperienced trainer like myself would be lost without the solid breeding you offer.

Justin bought us our first puppy from the game fair on August 7th. His family had adopted Zoe the year before, and our hope is that they'll

make a good hunting team. Our pup's name is Dozer. He was the biggest of the litter & is a fast learner. He fetched the fist night we

brought him home!
Best wishes on the upcoming season,

Rollie and Shelly
I just wanted to let you know how happy we are with our little Brittany-Zoe.

She was one of Baily and Daisy's July 2, 2008 puppies. She is by far
the smartest dog I have ever owned.

Here is a picture of her when she was about 4 months old.

Sorry, I didn't have a recent one. But she is pointing everything.

At fourteen weeks she wasn't hunting yet but seems to be taking

credit for the bounty.

Hi Bob and Sharon,

I wanted to send you a picture of Huck to let you see how he is doing.  He is "helping" Denny.  He is a joy to have around

and is using his nose all the time. He loves to swim.  He and our old dog play together and get along really well.

Have a blessed Christmas,

Hi,

I just wanted you to see our dog Ruby that we got from you at Game Fair 2 years ago.  I see that you now

have a litter from her parents Feebee & Rocky.  She is by far one of the best dogs we have ever owned! She

loves everyone and is a great pointer.  Everyone that meets her comments on how nice a dog she is.  So if

anyone is thinking of purchasing a puppy from your current litter, I would highly recommend your dogs!

Thanks again for a great dog!

Hi Lais Kennels,
This is Hunter, all grown up (from Sarah and Rocky's litter).  His "baby picture" is on your

testimonial page (he's the one napping on the plaid blanket).  He will be 9 months old in a few days.

So far, we've taught him to "sit", "come", and we're still working on how to "shake", and walk

nicely on a leash.  His pointing instinct is fabulous!  In this picture, he's pointing at robins in our

yard…..a favorite past time.  My husband took him out pheasant hunting last fall and he did

great.  He ran with the adult dogs to get the flavor.  There's nothing prettier than a shorthair pointing!

We will visit you at the Game Fair this summer if you'll be there.

Warm Regards,
Jeff and Elyse M. & family

Hello Bob & Sharon,

My husband and I got a GSP from you a few months ago, Dutchess. Ironically I had wanted to name our pup that so the name stuck and she's still Dutchess. And it sure fits because she thinks she's royalty! :) She is of course a spoiled and very energetic little pup and keeps us on our toes. She really is a little tornado. She's not quite 5 months yet, but a big pup and she'll be a large dog. Aaron has been working with her on retrieving and she is doing very well as long as there are no distractions, but she is still young and playing is much more fun. She is pointing at a pheasant wing and recognizes the scent. Also she likes to bring me presents, mostly things I don't care for, such as a goose wing, a frozen sparrow that died during a cold snap, sticks, corn cobs and my favorite sheep poop. :)

What a character!! She loves people and we're working with her not to jump up for attention. I tell everyone that she thinks all people's life revolves around her and that they were put on Earth to play with/entertain her. She sleeps very well in her kennel at night and never made much for noise from the get go. She is very smart and picks up on commands extremely fast and has known several tricks and commands for months now, such as; sit, lie down, roll over, stay, and drop it and to kennel up. Next time we're heading thru we'll let you know and maybe swing by to say hello, please do the same. Thanks again for the wonderful dog,

Aaron and Bethany L.

P.S. Penny (our 7 yr old GSP) even likes having a play mate, I think she often wishes there was an off switch to either make her nap or slow down though. :) Sometimes I agree!!

Happy New Year!

I thought you might find this interesting news

I ran into a fellow Brittany owner, and she had these old magazines that had our older dog ‘Flame’ on the cover.   The photographer must have took the picture two years ago at Kelly farm during a Hunt Test.  He lost my name and I forgot the name of the magazine. I figured he just never used the picture.

If you get this magazine - you may not have known one of your pups was on it.

Hi my name is Tim I purchased a brittany from you in Sept. of 06, just to let you know what a great dog she is turning out to be both hunting and family wise. she is so good on grouse and pheasant for being so young. All the training this summer paid off ten fold. Her retrieving is a little strange yet but bringing back birds by the feet is ok by me.

She works nice     and close on grouse and is always aware of where I am hunting ditch parrots. I have shot 8 or 9 grouse and 30 or 40 pheasant so far thie season.

She learns very quickly, she's fun to watch.

Some day I will try to send you a picture of Toots or stop by,I would like to see some of your other dogs. Thanks so much.  Any time you need a recommendation just ask thanks.

Brittany & German Shorthair Testimonials

10/2007

Just wanted to drop you a quick line to extend our sincere appreciation for the puppies we purchased from you at the 2005 Game Fair show.  Two years later the picture above says it all.   “Patches” our Pointer has become a hunting machine, virtually no commands are even needed in the field,  “Cassie” our Brittany has an unbelievable nose and tracks birds like a shark.  They hunt very well together, Cassie will back Patches automatically, needless to say we a very proud of their abilities.   They transform from gentle home dogs to all business when they hit the fields.

Yet they make us laugh and smile everyday with their different character and personalities.  Admittedly, I did not do a lot of research prior to purchasing our dogs; however we did make the right choice in selecting a quality family who has developed an awesome breed of dogs.  We could not be happier.  My Son and I stopped by at the Fair this year to say hello, wish we could have taken a couple more home!

Hi Rollie and Shelly-
I just was looking at the website and saw the testimonials tab. So I thought I would take some time
to write a little note to brag about how much I love my little man. Sorry I was a little bored at work and
wrote two version mine and Ringers. Hope that you enjoy.

Thank you Rollie and Shelly for keeping Rnger and my engagement a secret. I was so excited when I saw
Ringer then the ring. Jason knows me to well, I'll say yes to anything that mean a dog is included especially
if it is a Britt pup. Ringer is something else, what a smarty pants. He was pretty much potty trained when we
got him (big thank you) but he has also been working on sit, down, give me five, roll over, crawl and
working on weaving through my leg. These have been to just keep him out of trouble but he loves to show off
his skills. He also loves his big brother and sisters but he unsure about why they have long tails. He tries
to bit them off for them. The biggest thing that I think is funny is after a couple of points he gets
excited and points with his back right paw. I just wanted to thank you again for bringing him into our
life. Thank you Katy, Jason, Razy (lab/golden), Suki and Ariel (chessie girls)

Thank you Rollie and Shelly for letting Jason surprise Katy with a ring and me for their engagement. She
thought I was some handsome fella with the ring around my neck. I was just happy to be able to snuggle, I was
still a little guy at that time. I have been growing up quickly and Katy says that I'm a little smarty
pants. Since at 14 week, I'm mostly potty trained, can sit, down, give five, crawl, roll over and she has
tried to get me to weave through her legs. She is also trying to teach me to heel on a leash. But I keep
telling her that I'm a big boy now and it's more fun to run with my big brother and sisters off leash. She
does get a kick out of my pointing technique since when I get excited I point with my back right paw
instead of my front. Well it's getting late and I need my puppy sleep so thank you for my family, Katy,
Jason, Razy, Suki, and Ariel. Hope to see you again soon. I'll send picture soon. Since Katy has been my
paparazzi.

Bob and Sharon & family,

Just a note to say "thanks" for being so helpful to us on Friday at the gamefair.  We are enjoying our new male puppy (from Sarah and Rocky's litter).  He is helping our hearts heal after losing our shorthair, Morgan, 2 weeks ago to bone cancer.  Our two boys can't get enough of him :o)    We named our puppy Hunter.  My husband is hoping he'll be a great hunter, and we also named him after Torii Hunter of the MN Twins.  Hunter even has a Twins collar.  The AKC name we've chosen is "Morgan's Lil Pheasant Hunter".  I noticed Sarah's name is Lil Sarah Smile, so we put her name in there as a tribute to his mama.... Thanks again.  Be assured he came home to a very loving and protective family.  Here's a picture of his first day home.  If you'd like occasional updates, we'd be happy to send them!
